Explanations..

Sorry I haven't posted in a while there hasn't been much going on, or enough to formulate a post.

In summary I haven't had a lot of contact with the client as I have been writing up about the normalization and the ERD diagram. Among this I have also developed a data dictionary write up after creating my data dictionary, about a month ago which will help me show the client  how the data will look within Microsoft Access, as in the field types and validation.

I have worked out the relationships and with the help from one of my assignments within university I have more of an idea on how to write and present the data dictionaries and the relevant data that needs to be in them. The fields have been redone in access, to get the relationships in correctly and to be working with mock data.

Documentation

I have been writing up documentation, I have put the images from the different iterations of logo design and I have sent the statement the client has to write via email as we couldn't meet up to give him it in person.

New year..

It has been hectic over the Christmas holidays and frankly I haven't managed to get as much done as I had hoped. I am slightly falling behind on timescales so I have been reviewing the gantt chart and changing as well as adding new tasks in accordance with the new schedule.

My client has had less time to talk since he has now found a job, and is currently is in the middle of his training and quite tired when he comes home. We have however finally decided on which style of business card to use, and I have put the normalization into affect in access, I need to finish the tables and put sample data in before hand.

Meetings

I have had two meetings, Tuesday and Thursday.
Summary:

I have done the normalisation and I am ready to show my client, I have explained how the normalisation worked and how I got the outcome. I will produce a schematic to show what I have done. I have also looked into the logo for the business cards a bit more, although he may already have a design himself but I will take one to him anyway, in case he prefers my idea.

I am also going to show him the designs of business cards, I will show him whether he wants or more design orientated business card or a simple one.

I have created a data dictionary which will aid me in the completion of my database as it will allow me to look at the data type and the data validation, and field size when i am creating the table, it will also give a view to my client.

Progression and timing are key!

So, I know I haven't posted in a while i've left all my notes at home where my internet and computer haven't been my best friends.

I am well underway with the normalisation, I believe I have done the first normalisation, now all I need to do is check it and write an ERD for it, which will allow me to see the relationships.

I haven't spent as much time as I planned on it because of my other assignments and other prior engagements.

I have started work on the business cards, I have got several layouts and designs that I am going to put forward to my client.

It's been a hectic few weeks and I don't believe it's going to get much better!

Normalisation

Met up with the client although I didn't need much information as I was in progress of normalising the data he had given me.

I have completed 1NF of the normalisation, it is taking a little longer than expected because I have tried a couple of ways of normalising the data, I have also been working on the business cards and searching out for ideas on the logo as well as getting ideas from the client.
